Create an estimate

Flare allows you to easily create an estimate that you can convert to an invoice later on. To create an estimate, do the following:

1. Click Sales > Estimates in Flare's main menu (1 and 2 below).
   
   
   
   
2. On the Estimates page, click the Create Estimate button (3 below).
   
   
   
   
3. Select a customer from the customer dropdown menu (4 below) or click open the menu create a customer on the fly. Enter an Estimate # or use the one Flare provides for you, enter an optional Purchase order number, choose an estimate date and choose a "Valid to Date" (5 below).
   
   
   
   
4. Enter the item information: select or create a product on the fly (6 above), enter a description (7), choose a quantity (8) and enter a unit price (9).
   
   
5. Enter a percentage discount if applicable (10 above) and choose a tax or create one on the fly (11).
   
   You can also add more items (A below), save the selected tax as the default (B) for this customer or delete an item (C).
   
   
   
   
6. Enter optional notes: one note for the customer and an internal memo (12 above).
   
   
7. Click Save (13 above).

1. Click Sales > Estimates in Flare's main menu. On the Estimates page, click the dropdown arrow to the right of the Create Estimate button (circled below) and then click Create Invoice, Create Payment, or Create Credit Note.
   
   

Edit an estimate

To edit an estimate while viewing all estimates, do the following:

1. Click Sales > Estimates in Flare's main menu (1 and 2 below).
   
   
   
   
2. Click the estimate number of the estimate you'd like to edit (3 below).
   
   
   
   
3. On the estimate details page, click the edit icon   above the active estimate on the right (4 below).
   
   
   
   
4. Edit any aspect of the estimate and click Save (5 below).
   

Delete an estimate

To delete an estimate, do the following:

1. Click Sales > Estimates in Flare's main menu (1 and 2 below).
   
   
   
   
2. Click the checkbox next to the estimates you wish to delete (3 below).
   
   
   
   
3. Click the delete icon  (4 above).

Estimate number settings

Estimate numbers are generated and incremented automatically (starting at "EST-000001") and use the prefix "EST-". By default, estimate numbers have no suffix. The estimate number scheme, prefix and suffix can be changed in estimate settings.

To change estimate number settings, do the following:

1. Click Sales > Estimates in Flare's main menu (1 and 2 below).
   
   
   
   
2. Click the Create Estimate button (3 below).
   
   
   
   
3. Click the Estimate number settings gear icon (4 below).
   
   
   
   
4. Change the estimate number prefix (5 below). Change the estimate number (6 below). If "Auto-generate estimate numbers" is checked (circled below), Flare will increment the next estimate number. Enter an estimate number suffix (7 below).
   
   
   
   
5. Click Save (8 above).
