Sales receipts allow you to record customer sales revenue and supply a receipt to your customers without the need for creating invoices.

Create a sales receipt
To create a sales receipt, do the following:
- In Flare's main menu, click "Sales > Sales Receipts" and click the "Create Receipt" button (1, 2 and 3 below).
- Choose a customer name from the "Name" dropdown menu, or, click "Add new Customer" (4 below).
When creating a customer, "Name" is the only required field though it's a good idea to complete contact information and email address. - Select a date from the "Receipt Date" dropdown menu, click the "Deposit to account" dropdown menu and choose the Flare bank account in which to record the deposit, enter an optional reference number (5 below).
- From the "Item" dropdown, select a product or service, or click "Add new Product" (6 below), enter an optional description (7 below), enter the quantity (8 below) and unit price (9 below). You may also enter an optional discount as a percentage or dollar value (10 below).
- From the "Tax" dropdown menu, select a tax or click "Add new tax" (11 below). For more information about creating taxes see the Help article "Create Sales Tax & Sales Tax Groups".
To add another line item, click "Add item" (circled below). - Enter an optional description and internal memo (12 below).
- Click "Save" or click the "Save" dropdown and select "Save and Email", "Save and Print" or "Save and PDF" (13 below).
Email a sales receipt
To email a sales receipt, do the following:
- Click "Sales > Sales Receipts" in Flare's main menu (1 and 2 below).
- Click a checkbox of a sales receipt you'd like to email and click the email icon (3 and 4 below).
- Flare populates the "To:" address with the email you entered when you created the customer record. If you'd like to add an email or change the address, hover your mouse over the email address (or "None" if you haven't entered an email address for the customer (5 below). Click the edit pencil icon (6 below).
The "From:" address can't be changed. Emails come from the Flare system email address. - Enter an email address and click the "Save" checkmark (7 below).
- Click the "Attach PDF" checkbox to attach a sales receipt PDF to the email (8 below).
- Click "CC" or "BCC" to enter CC or BCC email addresses to send the email to (9 below).
- Choose a sales receipt template from the "Template Name" dropdown or use the default sales receipt system template (10 below).

View sales receipts, edit sales receipts
View sales receipts
To view sales receipts, do the following:
- Click "Sales > Sales Receipts" in Flare's left menu (1 and 2 below).
A table of sales receipts is displayed. - Check a checkbox of a sales receipt (3 below) and click an action icon (4 below). Actions from left to right are: email sales receipt, edit sales receipt, print sales receipt, PDF sales receipt, delete sales receipt, export (as CSV, XLS, XLSX), search sales receipts.
- To view sales receipt details, click a sales receipt row (5 below).
- The sales receipt details view will open, displaying a list of sales receipt on the left. Click a receipt name in the left navigation (6 below) and it will be displayed on the right.
- To choose an action for a receipt, click a checkbox (7 below) and click an action icon above the sales receipt navigation (8 below). From left to right, actions include: email, search and "More" (edit, print, export as PDF, export as CSV, XLS, XLSX).
- Alternatively, you can choose an action for the receipt being viewed (9 above).
Edit sales receipts
To edit sales receipts, do the following:
- Click "Sales > Sales Receipts" in Flare's left menu (1 and 2 below).
- Check a checkbox of the sales receipt you'd like to edit (3 below) and click the edit pencil icon (4 below).
- Alternatively, click a sales receipt row to view the receipt details (5 below).
Then, click a sales receipt name in the left navigation (6 below) to load the receipt details in the right pane. Click the edit pencil icon above the receipt (7 below). - You may edit any aspect of the receipt (8 below). Note that Flare tracks the original amount and the net change if you enter new receipt line items or edit existing amounts (green outline below).
- Click "Save" or click the Save button dropdown and choose "Save & Email", "Save & Print" or "Save & PDF" (9 above).
Sales receipt number settings
Flare automatically numbers sales receipts beginning with "SR-000001". By default, Flare auto-increments receipt numbers and uses a default prefix "SR-". You can change the receipt number settings.
To change sales receipt number settings do the following:
- Click "Sales > Sales Receipts" in Flare's main menu (1 and 2 below).
- Click the "Create Receipt" button (3 below).
- Click the sales receipt settings gear icon (4 below). The Sales Receipt number settings form opens.
- You may enter your own prefix (5 below) and receipt number for the current receipt (6 below). Enter an optional suffix (7 below). If you would like Flare to auto-increment receipt numbers, check the auto-increment checkbox (8 below). Click "Save" (9 below).
